Betty is a 1968 30′ Sovereign of the Road International Land Yacht Series in the twin bed configuration.  The International series added several great features over the standard Land Yacht – walnut woodwork, upsized gas bottles, the deluxe central control panel, water purifier and many other items.  According to the original price and option sheets, she sold for $8,197.00 brand new.  That doesn’t sound too bad until you factor in inflation.  An online inflation calculator claims that $8,197.00 in 1968 is now the equivalent of over $53,000.00 – so, Airstreams have always been a little less attainable than your run-of-the-mill camper.
